The different combination of company type and options allow to certify products in numerous constellations.

Company type

The company type categorizes the legal entity: there can be only a

  • producer: a legal entity cultivating the product as a single supplier

or a

  • producer group: a cooperative (a PMO) contracting single producers, who cultivate the product and supply the group

Options

The options describe who owns and sells which product.

  • Option 1 GLOBALG.A.P. scheme standard and AMC (Approved Modified Checklists)
  • Option 3 Fully benchmarked schemes

If the single producer owns and sells the product directly to the market, then its own products are certified as option 1 or 3. The same applies for producer groups: If the group cultivates and sells its own product - a different one than the product of the cooperative - , this product is certified as option 1 or 3.

  • Option 2 GLOBALG.A.P. scheme standard and AMC (Approved Modified Checklists)
  • Option 4 Fully benchmarked schemes

If the single producer cultivates the product, but then sells it to the group who then markets the product as a producer group member, the products of this single producer are registered and accepted as option 2 or 4. This product of the group is then certified as option 2 or 4. Also the group can grow this (the same) product on its own (or rented) fields - however this cannot be registered in the GLOBALG.A.P. Database. Even thought it has to be listed in the annex of the paper certificate.

Example:

Producer A grows and sells peaches: option 1 certificate

Producer A grows also nectarines and supplies group X: option 2 acceptance (no certificate!)

Group X markets nectarines: option 2 certificate incl. all members, also producer A

Group X also grows and sells nectarines: the same option 2 certificate incl. all members and the group, too

Group X grows and sells also plums (not supplied by members): option 1 certificate
